I Journaled for 30 Days and This Is What Happened

As part of my goals for the first 3 months (Q1) of 2021, I decided to journal every day. I just completed the first month so here is a comprehensive breakdown of my journaling experience.

The motive

When I reflected on 2020 in December to see what I wanted to keep and what I wanted to improve, I found that, although I am a very grateful person, it felt general.

Let me explain.

When I thought of what I was grateful for, I named the big things: family, friends, health, etc. I realised that I haven't been aware enough to recognise the really small things that I’m grateful for. This includes my morning coffee, the old woman that said good morning to me on the bus, etc. I felt that I wanted to increase my awareness and be more intentional, even with my gratitude.

The second reason is affirmations. Last year I set morning affirmations but I was not consistent — it was not a habit. All the days I set morning affirmations, I found that my day flowed more smoothly and I was more likely to finish more tasks from my to-do list. When I wasn't able to complete my tasks, I didn't…
